Mark n' Frank

In the rodeo arena there are unsung heroes as well as the cowboys in the limelight. The pick-up men and their horses often are put in dangerous situations with the "Rough Stock.”

This piece depicts a real life occurrence at a rodeo in Elko B.C. An angry bull named “Jailbird” belonging to the Richard’s Rodeo Co. broke out of the stripping chute after his performance and went looking for trouble back in the arena. He found it with Frank McIntyre and his horse. He charged the horse, knocking Frank off and going after him on the ground. Frank’s partner, Mark Parsons, rode in and knocked Jailbird away from Frank allowing him to get to safety. Jailbird was persuaded to leave the arena and no one was hurt even though it took quite a while for the dust to settle.
